Hey Football Family,
This week in football: Excellence
A coach/mentor once told me excellence happens when your conviction is greater than your feelings. What was their point?
There are a lot of obstacles and distractions in life and on the football field and if we are not careful, we let our feelings pilot our choices. What’s wrong with that?
Feelings can change from one moment to the next. If we are always waiting on our feelings to find comfort before we choose to act or move, we may eventually find ourselves “stuck”.
We know that being excellent in anything requires complete and undivided attention. It is the type of focus that comes from conviction; a deep and unwavering belief and constant state of being convinced of a certain thing.
So, while the distractions and obstacles are constantly trying and testing our focus and “feelings” we need something that is going to bind us to our goals; we need something that will keep us pressing on toward the prize.
We need conviction. We need belief. We need values.
Excellence doesn’t need words. Make your choice as to what you are going to bring to practice this week. Then put it into practice all week long. Let us see the evidence of excellence in the way we practice this week.
