Hello CAHS Girls Beach Team!
I hope you are all doing well during these uncertain times. As most of you probably saw, Girls' Beach Volleyball wasn't listed as a spring sport on the most recent CIF master calendar that came out last Friday. The new CIF commissioner said that High School Girls' Beach Volleyball will celebrate its inaugural season during the 2021-22 school year. Due to the pandemic, the timeline got pushed back a year, but the good news is that it passed all the necessary board approvals at every level and will now be a CIF sport in 2022. As for the 2021 season, the tentative plan is to host a season from March 22nd - May 1st, but I will keep you all posted as we get closer. I am hopeful that we can have some sort of season, but I am also realistic about how difficult it might be to run the league with the health risks involved for everyone, the strict protocol that might still be necessary at that time, and ultimately the liability for our association, not to mention the possible lack of players available for the sport due to the condensed seasons that were configured by CIF for this school year. The league director Kelly drobeck will be researching everything over the next few months and will plan to send out an "official" informational email on January 1st, once we see if high school sports are actually up and running at that time.
Thanks for your patience, and if anything changes, I will keep you in the loop. Fingers crossed!
Be Safe,
Coach Bridgette
